Dar El-Nimer for Arts and Culture presents Rhythms of a Different Time, an exhibition celebrating the journey of late Palestinian artist Toufic Abdul-Al, which will feature some of his paintings, drawings, and sculptures.
Born in 1938 in Akka, Abdul-Al's work revolves around daily sights of his city such as sea-related depictions. He also produced many drawings in black and white, which were published in the Beirut-based magazine Al Hourriya. The most significant of these works represents female bodies as well as horses, fighters, and some Palestinian symbols such as the cross, the swallow bird, and the cactus plant.
Rhythms of a Different Time is Toufic Abdul-Al's first retrospective in Beirut and is curated by Nasser Soumi. The exhibition will run from June 25th to July 31st, 2018.
