Meshwar of an Artist From Palestine| Dialogue Between Two Generations: Maroun and Fouad Tomb
Born in Haifa in 1911, Maroun trained with artists Hermann Struck and Paul Konrad Hoenich. The opening of Maroun Tomb’s last exhibition in Haifa coincided with adoption of the United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine. In 1948, the year of the Nakba, Tomb had to migrate and settle in his homeland Lebanon. Until his death in 1981, his works were exhibited in Beirut’s most prominent galleries. Some works belonging to Palestinian era will be shown exclusively in this exhibition.
A parallel dialogue will be presented, with Maroun’s son, artist-painter Fouad Tomb. His reinterpretations of his father’s work tend towards a colourful semi-abstraction and will also be exhibited.
A publication ‘Fouad Tomb, Humanist Painter and Committed Pedagogue’ written by Randa Sadaka (ed.Dergham) will also be presented at Dar El-Nimer during the exhibition.
'Meshwar of an Artist From Palestine| Dialogue Between Two Generations: Maroun and Fouad Tomb' is produced by the Fondation Fouad et May Tomb pour les Arts and will be accompanied by an extensive public program.
The exhibition runs until 13 May 2023.
